AMP members Highlighted at Annual Psychosomatic Medicine Meeting

Dr. Tom Heinrich of Medical College of Wisonsin and AMP Council member, lead yet again an informative, popular and well-received workshop "Updates in Internal Medicine" at the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine.  This successful workshop is a product of the Medicine and Psychiatry Special Interest Group (SIG) at the Academy, ably lead by Tom and presented by AMP members each year.  This year's presenters included core AMP members Dr. Heather Huang from U Wisconsin SOM and Public Health, Vic Steibel from UPMC and Tom himself.  If you are a member of the Academy, consider joing this SIG - contact Tom for more information.

Congratualtions to Dr. Liz Gilbert, Duke MedPsych PGY1 for the First Prize Poster Award at the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine held in Tuscon Arizona this month.
  Liz presented a project conducted at Brown University while a medical student entitled:  "Unintentional Injuries in Patients with Dementia:  Hospital Course and Outcomes."

Congratulations to Duke MedPsych faculty Dr. Wei Jiang, the senior author on a paper titled "Association of Depression and Survivial in Patients with Chronic Heart Failure Over 12 Years", which was the joint winner for the best original research article in the journal Psychosomatics.
  The award was presented at the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine in Tuscon this month.  Dr. Jiang is an Associate Professor of Medicine and of Psychiatry. She heads the Neuropsychocardiology Laboratory and the Duke Heart Mind Center.
